  • Alberta Snowboard Association

    The Alberta Snowboard Association [ASA] operates as a non-profit provincial sports association promoting the development of snowboard training and competition in the province of Alberta. The ASA is recognized as the official provincial sports organization responsible for the governance of snowboarding by the Canadian Snowboarding Federation [CSF].

  • Canada West Ski Areas Association

    The Canada West Ski Areas Association [CWSAA] is the representative body for the ski areas and heli and snowcat operations of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Yukon.

  • Canadian Avalanche Association

    The Canadian Avalanche Association is Canada's national organization promoting avalanche safety. They are dedicated to bringing the avalanche community together to develop knowledge and understanding of avalanches, facilitate communication, promote professionalism and provide quality avalanche education.

    Ski and Snowboard Canada is a website produced by the Canadian Ski Council to provide consumers with information on skiing and snowboarding. The Canadian Ski Council exists to increase participation in recreational snowboarding, alpine and cross-country skiing in Canada. They do this through marketing and promotion, communication and cooperation, research and development, and advocacy.

  • National Ski Areas Association

    The National Ski Areas Association [NSAA] is the trade association for ski area owners and operators in the United States. NSAA analyzes and distributes ski industry statistics; produces annual conferences and trade shows; and produces a bimonthly industry publication. The association also provides educational programs and employee training materials on industry issues, environmental laws and regulations, state regulatory requirements, aerial tramway safety, resort operations and guest service.

    Available on the website is the document entitled "Sustainable Slopes," which is the environmental charter for ski areas. Related to the environmental charter are annual reports documenting the implementation progress of ski areas involved in this initiative.

    The National Ski Areas Association [NSAA] also provides a database entitled "The Green Room" that contains information on ski area environmental programs and practices.

  • Peaks to Prairies: Pollution Prevention Information Center

    Peaks to Prairies have established a collection of resources to address the pollution prevention needs of the outdoor tourism sector.

    Available on their website is a document entitled Greening Your Ski Area: A Pollution Prevention Handbook. This is a guide for ski areas wanting to green their operations. It features practical, proven techniques and technologies that will reduce the environmental impacts of ski areas and result in cost savings. The Ski Areas Topic Hub complements this resource by providing more information geared towards a technical assistance provider and resources related to pollution prevention.

  • USDA Forest Service

    The Intermountain Region in Ogden, Utah provides administrative oversight and support to thirteen National Forests and one National Grassland in Utah, Nevada, western Wyoming, and southern and central Idaho. They have produced a document entitled Ski Area BMPs [Best Management Practices] that includes guidelines for planning, erosion control and reclamation of ski areas.
