Multidisciplinary/New Media
Welcome to the Multidisciplinary/New Media Arts Page
What Is Multidisciplinary Arts/New Media?
For grant funding purposes, three types of arts practices are funded through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, http://www.affta.ab.ca.
- Multidisciplinary Arts encompass forms of expression that use several disciplinary codes and whose practice, language and works lie outside recognized artistic forms.
- Interdisciplinary Arts encompasses art forms that involve more than one artistic discipline (music, theatre, dance, film, writing, visual arts) in which the forms are still recognizable but the final work goes beyond the boundaries of a single discipline. Note: for funding purposes, musical theatre is defined as theatre.
- New Media Arts encompasses forms of expression that rely heavily on new technology, eg: CD ROM, internet and other computer assisted art. This does NOT include the design of websites.
